Crochet/Craft catch up & my first moon picture

IMG_20171001_181540_249.jpgDSC_0503.JPG

Howdy people I’ve been reading some of your blogs and it’s nice to see everyone busy with projects. I’ve just finished my last teddy orders, now i am working on the two Blanket orders which need to be done by November BUT this person has also extended there order after seeing me make another mini unicorn and wants two of these as well LOL!
So, i’ve kept my order book closed until the 20th of October, which was something i was going to do so i can get some prep time in for Christmas, which is only fair right?

I also have another order which i have accepeted, but does ‘t need to be done until December but its the same as this mini unicorn but made bigger and personalised.

Horrible weekend.

So i was woken at 6:00AM Sunday by a lady with her two children outside our block screaming help help fire. Sadly, the three story block right next to mine was on fire. Her home set a light by the use of a storage heater, because she lived on the ground floor she managed to get out.
I saw the fire, and this horrible sight of seeing someone pulled out. A guy jumped out of his window and one had to be rescued from this ledge.
The family that i am guessing lived above the lady, has sadly passed away today and i feel completely helpless, her two children are still in hospital critical. I don’t believe in God but i do hope that the baby and kid survive.
I haven’t had much sleep, it’s been playing on my mind alot and i can’t get the images out of my head. I have to wake up and see it out of my window as it was in plain view. I wish i could of helped.

My heart also goes out to those all killed in Las Vegas, i have no words to as why someone would want to such a fucking thing.
This world is bloody horrible at the best of times with all sorts going on with Spain and these god damn storms just ruining peoples lives.

So lets just take a few moments to look at how lucky we were. We might not have much money, or not live in the best of homes. But we have a roof over our head, food to eat and fresh water to drink. And some of us are lucky to have friends and family around us as well.
We are privileged in so many ways, and yet we do take things for granted whether you want to admit that or not.

Back to it

So apart from that, an i aren’t saying sorry for that sad moment. I’ve been a bit grumpy lately. Like i’ve felt extra stressed and cant figure out why – I have even acted shitty with my mum and i shouldn’t because she’s not very well and everytime i am nasty i want to cry because i really don’t mean it. I think its a build up of something idk.

But i have my camera now, just waiting on my back drop stand cause it took me a while to pick one and some lighting so i can film when its darker.
Can’t wait to make videos, it’s easier to explain LOL – I’ve also made a massive list of things to make in the up an coming weeks and what i want to crochet.

Its long………………………………………….Also buying these crochet magazines, anyone else find some of them shit? It’s a hit and miss most months and i end up getting pissed off i just wasted 6.99 on a magazine that has average crap in it. IDK I hate they are in plastic so you can’t even sneaky peak in them.

OH so, this is the picture i took with my camera of the moon ūüôā I still need some practise with the tripod etc but i kind of wanted to hurry as i felt like people in surrounding flats would see this person with her window open and a camera and assume i was a peeping¬† tom. It’s not bad, i wanted to get closer but it was a cloudy night so i am hoping the weekend will be better as i want to get in on some of those stars!

Hannah @ quietwatercraft has been a doll and made me a custom birthday card for my mums birthday! I love it and she has such a cute eye for detail. We also noted that its such a small world, she used to live locally Рhow crazy is that?? So i check out her blog and her Etsy shop.

So that’s it i haven’t a lot to say as i am typing this, and scheduling it my hands are frozen as the window is open and i cba get up and close it.

I hope you are all well, and what have your crafty hands been upto????????????????????????

Here is a picture of my cat for comfort. I don’t know why hes cross eyed here???????????????

Catch up Рblog changes & more

I think have a book addiction but I’m also a hoarder. I’ve come to terms with this.

So I’m being distant, I can’t help it. I hate social media and right now and even crochet, including the ‘look at me’ posts all the fucking time.

but I’m pushing through because I have a craft fayre in October and a Christmas one in December so I am very busy.

I have lots of blogs to catch up on and I’ll get to your posts at the weekend.

This week and most of last week was none stop and will be til Saturday so I can relax and catch up on everything.

ANYWAYS. Before I go I want to announce something.

I’m going to be getting rid of my website and using the Facebook shop function, OK I haven’t worded it the way I should. The website is technically staying but the store will be linked in Facebook does that make sense? I think this will be a better marketing strategy for me as MOST if not all my orders come straight from the Facebook world. I know how I can pursue customers and I am more Facebook savvy. I think this will help my website more by linking it into one.

I’ve also got two blankets available on my Etsy shop. It’s not a permanent thing as a personal preference I don’t like Etsy but way to go to everyone that has success with it.

OKAY ANOTHER ANNOUNCEMENT

Im really really really really putting my mind into writing. So watch this space! I also have some short stories saved as part of a new blog schedule I am planning.

Which brings me to my schedule!

From the beginning of August I’ll be posting 3 times a week. I want to try and do specific days but I know that won’t happen so as long as it’s 3x I’m okay.

One day it will be crochet, another day it’s going to be random anything from crafts to a rant. Third post will be story/writing related.

I’ve yet to do my bullet journal video and making t shirt yarn. Life does happen!

Now here’s the fun part woop woop. Every two weeks It will be 4 posts because I’m going to do book reviews!!!!!!!! Heck I might even start a book club every month?!?!!!?!?!?!?!?!!!
So that’s it for now! I pinky promise to catch up on blogs. I have liked some but yet to comment. Peace out.

Monday mayhem

So I’ve been way off with my blogging and everything else. I guess I’ve been busy but at the same time I started to feel a little low again and I needed to try and just snap out of it.

I’m feeling okay today, i finished my unicorn order and have a small order to finish and post it by Thursday. I am however trying to tackle my “I don’t want to leave the house” attitude and I need to get functional.

I joined a chat room for people with depression but I got banned because the owner is Christian and a hugely against the LGBT community. Anyways, I have decided to start bullet journaling. What is is this madness you say?

Okay well I am going to do a whole post on this probably next week but this is for sure something to get you more organised and more productive. Check out YouTube and type in bullet journal for videos but I actually recommend Amanda as she is so cool and I love her style. I will give you guys some beginner shit when I’m all set up as I think because I’m a beginner it would be cool to do with this with newbies as well. Also next week I’ll link all my items I got and where I purchased etc as today I’m off to get more stationary.

I also had to take my cat for his jabs last week and I bought him a water fountain as the heat here has been vile. It’s cooler today but I keep getting bursts of being warm!

I also have to try and fit in the doctors as I have this weird rash on my legs OK so it sounds gross but I think it’s dry skin idk. I also am still planning my store content and I guess my mood has slowed me down BUT I have an interview this week for a part time job at TGIF in the kitchen. I want it so I can not only get some extra bucks for my crocheting and store up Keep but it gets me out of the house.

Day 1 of serious dieting, I had two boiled eggs for breakfast (brunch!) I will probably eat a sandwich whilst I’m out so I will have some fruit and green tea when I get home.

I am also interested in calligraphy, so I am going to get some cheap pens and sketch pad and practise. I also want to learn how to doodle haha. I want to do things that relax me I know crocheting does but lately it’s all been for the sake of the store.

I had the best weekend not doing anything. Saturday I played ps4 all afternoon until midnight and Sunday I relaxed and watched youtube videos all day and just switched off from everything.

So I’ll be blogging again in the week I just have so much to do I can’t keep up and I never really saw blogging as priority when it comes to actual life.

I hope you are all well and I will sit down at some point tomorrow and catch up with your blogs.
Xoxo

Crocheting & things

What up world, so Tuesday it is. I feel like evert week is getting shorter and shorter!

Not much is happening on my side I am concentrating on life for a while & obviously crocheting. I’ve closed my website for a few weeks because I am making lots of things And some of the boring technical changes that wouldnt kind of work if it was all live.

Anyways I made those cute booties the other day and Iearnt from Croby Patterns

I also have some other patterns of hers that I am going to use which I bought from her store. She also has a video on how to make your own soles.

I like the way she makes her soles so I am going to note them all down and consider designing my own booties.

I was also going to do a blog with another award I was nominated for but I feel like these are getting too much for me and I notice that people feel left out (just from what I’ve see whilst browsing) when they haven’t been nominated – which kind of brings me to the same people get listed over and over.

Please don’t take offense to anything as I did take part myself and was going to do another thanks to Robin but I think the fun has passed for me.

So to anyone that hasn’t seen your name on a list don’t fret everyone’s blog is worthy regardless…

(I probably won’t be around much blogging wise til this award phases has calmed down. Again if you get offended by my complaining simply don’t read what I say. I won’t beat around the bush and sugar coat shit as I didn’t make my blog for that reason and won’t run around sprinkling happy fairy dust.)

I guess my depression has decided to come back for a bit hence the shitty mood. I’m also still feeling run down.

Happy crafting follow me on instagram @twinklehook_

Crocheting is driving me crazy

wp-1491604088020.jpg

So i’ve gotten this far with my c2c and i am NOT bored of it but now i am ready to just take a day off from this and start a c2c graph blanket.

Could not figure out stitch fiddle, I thought it was going okay and the pictures I chose just did not look right and URGH so then i found a website that does paid patterns, includes graph and written pattern. – Then I was like no, Becky stop being a wimp. You don’t need a pattern nor someone elses pattern.
Yes yes YES I really f*****g do.

Okay, so a c2c is easy especially when doing the decreasing but when i started to think about the graph decrease I felt anxious and scared. Sounds stupid right? I plucked up the courage to ask in the group I am in on FB and I THINK I GET IT

But then i don’t, It was explaining to me but I’m like how do you know when to decrease? So it was explained that you just get to the width you want etc and decrease. SO me feeling super tired I tried not to give attitude but it was ‘won’t it make the picture look odd’ Because at this point I’m tired and I’ve been sat for over 4 hours trying to find a picture or graph to do…

I’m getting pissed off, I won’t lie. I don’t care if right now my blog is not tolerable nor my language but seriously I want to sleep but at the same time I can’t sleep until I’ve made a decision and done some form of crocheting LOL.

SO it was explained more better and these are the words:

“Say your graph is 80 long and 50 wide, you’d decrease one side once you have got to 50 wide. Then keep going with the design on a diagonal until the length is 80. Then you’d decrease that side too, still doing the design on a diagonal.”

When will i know to decrease? Does this graph point it out. Am i missing something, am i that FLOCKING (yes I have used a better word) stupid!?!?!?!

Maybe tomorrow, maybe I will understand because even after hours of watching Mikey on the crochet crowd and we are talking hours. My brain, right now is frazzled.

I have not been inspired to write either, which sucks. I have crochet brain this week..

I big you good night.

70’s inspired granny blanket

I know what your thinking, it isn’t a 100% 70’s.

My mood just lately has either been pastel shades or retro and 70’s. After my complete fail of a sea coast blanket I looked at my boxes of stash and saw this bright green. I got it last year from a UK store called pound stretcher and was used to make a multi coloured sock monkey for a friend. I then saw the left over yarns from my bundles purchased from the Bella Coco store. I love the orange and burnt mustard colour and I combined all of these and thought okay granny square continuous, easy and quick.

This is for myself, I love usual colours and I can’t help but think of this blanket sitting on a mocha leather sofa in someone’s home in the 70’s. I have a name for it, but I won’t reveal til I’ve completed.

Also I have every shade available to list once it’s done including the bright green.

Back to the granny square. I’ve never actually been a huge fan, I made a baby blanket in drops cotton last year and it looked really nice. I think I just loath the pattern when I see colours I don’t like but everyone has different taste and I’m pretty sure people will look at the colours I’ve picked and puked a little. BUT I like to be different and sometimes my mood needs to be a little edgy.

A granny square is quite easy to do if your a pro and it took me a long time to grasp it, if you want to try the granny square then I suggest clicking this link > Bella Coco РGranny square tutorial

Bella Coco aka sarah Jayne she’s amazing. Her videos are so easy to follow and I managed to master the granny square by watching this video Atleast 100 times. (slow learner)

Hopefully this blanket will be done by the end of the week mane start of next week as I still have the wavy blanket to finish.

For now, happy crocheting! Have a great week & stay safe.

The Peacock blanket

20161016_173025_richtonehdr

I think i mentioned in my previous blog that i like to create names for my blankets. Or at least try.
The Peacock blanket is one of my favourite creations to date. I can’t believe how far I’ve come with my crocheting.
Last year i started this hobby after meeting a lady who volunteered with me at the PDSA charity shop. She showed me some of her blankets she would make for friends babies and i was amazed. I didn’t know much about crochet, in fact i hadn’t really heard about it until i came across someones You tube channel whilst looking for hand sewn pillow tutorials.
I sat and watched and it truly fascinated me, especially with only using one hook!

A few weeks went by and i took it upon myself to by some yarn and hooks, buying all the wrong things i struggled to figure this out. Of course the lady at the shop would say things like well if you can do it, its not for everyone. No! I was determined to perfect this, and if am being honest i did have a little cry about not being able to figure out just a basic stitch such as the Treble.

One night i did it, and i was cheering. Yes i literally cheered and showed my boyfriend i could actually do it.

Now i am here, creating things i never thought were possible.
I have only been doing it for one year, and would never take a higher title. I still class my self as a beginner, purely because i have seen so much beautiful work from people who have been doing it for a long time. I love sitting and browsing through the Facebook crochet groups and looking at peoples work. I make lists of colours and things i would like to make. It really is a beautiful thing, and i still have a lot more to learn.

One day i was asked to make a blanket for my auntie to keep her legs warm whilst in her wheelchair or just sitting around, relaxing. I was sick and tired of doing simple blankets or stressing myself out about whether or not i should try something else.
I looked at my boxes of yarn and i found some colours that i started to use for something else, it had been put aside as i really did not like the pattern.
As always, i went and browsed the Facebook groups. Cosy strip by Attic 24 is always a popular choice, so i went onto her blog and had a look.
Of course the blanket looked so difficult and so many colours has been used it all looked a bit baffling, but once i read the pattern and figured out i didn’t need as much yarn to make a lapgan i was good to go…. But wait, i looked to the left of her blog and saw something else.¬†Cupcake stripe blanket
It was just as perfect as the cosy stripe, so i made some notes (in my secret crochet book where i jot down patterns in case i need to alter for personal use) of her pattern and grabbed those colours that seemed out of place and went for it.

I chose 5 colours and i chained in multiples of 3, i think i did just over 180.
People have asked me what my shades are and i honestly can’t remember, but i am thinking about going to my local yarn shop and scoping out my colours to get the shades for you guys! Who knows, maybe in the future i’ll be lucky enough to have my own release of yarn packs?!

So here is the Peacock blanket. The colours are an usual mixture, but i think it looks just right. I am so proud of this and i hope you all enjoy ‚̧

(Please remember the peacock blanket is my own and that if you wish to make this blanket using the Attic 24 pattern and name it the peacock don’t forget to credit the pattern designer and myself as i would hate for someone to take away something i am so proud of.)
