Crochet hats, chit chat and a little moan. (No surprise then)

So I’ve been really busy making things for my December stall, my mum is also making things as she is doing it with me – We both have different styles so it will be pretty awesome to have a partner in crochet crime to join me ūüėÄ

I just finished this shiplap Cowl¬† last night, it only took me a day or so. If i crocheted none stop i probably would of had it done in about 4/5 hours but wouldn’t life be great if we could just sit and crochet without dealing with cleaning or house chores LOL.
I changed it up a little, i do need to add a SC crochet border, hers looks very stiff on the edges mine just flops and folds over so i think its because i wasn’t as consistent with the ridge rows but once its worn it looks like the picture. I wanted them every now and again! I have actually made the matching hat to this¬† which i did post a picture of over on my Facebook page¬† – I like that even though i follow a pattern, it doesn’t look the same. I always say that patterns are a mere guide and that your mind and creative hands will do the rest.

I got these hats done, the puff stitch one i keep needing to add a bloody pom pom but i keep forgetting lol! So i’ll do that probably over the weekend. I can make a hat in around 2.5 hours if i just keep at it etc.
I also started another unicorn for an order the other day, i have two weeks to finish it so i don’t feel like i am under pressure and going to work on it during the weekend.
Unicorns are my most popular thing and so i have changed my list of things to make for my stall, i have a few other cute items ill be adding which will be done in the next following weeks.

The weather is certainly not fall, its bloody Arctic up my ends! SO i pulled out my slow cooker which i seem to be doing a lot, and decided to making chicken lobby.
Lobby is a traditional meal from my home town Staffordshire, it’s known as the poor mans meal.
It’s very cheap to make and is so delicious with crust bread. It’s usually done with beef or stewing meat but i really had the taste for chicken.
I’ll be writing up this recipe in the week so you can enjoy a meal i am proud of from my home!

Something really pissed off recently, and i don’t know if this is going to become a more regular thing as time goes on.
I won’t go into detail as i am actually going to do a post about it but i was asked if i could make something by a specific pattern. The pattern costs ¬£5.00 and it had all sizes up to an adult, i assume this person wanted it for a child. Anyways, i gave a price of ¬£25 which i explained the cost of yarn and that i’ll need to buy this pattern.
I personally don’t think this is a bad price…..Its handmade. So my response is, ‘ill think about it’ Which is a no.

What my point is, people want things for free. Especially in this craft industry when they know they can go to a store and buy cheaply manufactured made shit. I get that some people don’t have the money, but surely if you know someone makes something by hand you know it isn’t going to be cheap? I know people in this¬† world exist that do appreciate handmade things – BUT i feel like when it’s people i know that ask me, they expect it for cheap.
I’m not doing, this is my way of making a living and crocheting items isn’t sometimes a days labour. I know people will look elsewhere for someone else to make it cheaper and that’s fine, they clearly don’t mind being out of pocket.

It really knocked me down a little bit, i feel as though i have gone back three steps and that i am a walk over and will do anything for even the smallest bit of cash. It feels degrading.
I’ve learnt a lot this past year, and i won’t be backing down with my prices. It’s not like i am charging ¬£45. I’ve seen what some people charge, and i aren’t that high.

Anyways. d

I am going to sit down with my list of shit to do later make my book for this months first ever book club on my blog! You can join in by reading up about it here
I bought Decembers book the other day and it’s going to be a lovely Festive read… That’s all i will say!

I hope everyone is okay an busy crafting, i am also going to make some Christmassy things tonight.
Chow for now! xox

Aviator crochet hat – Free pattern NOT MY PATTERN.

Sup folks, wasn’t going to blog today as i bet you are probably sick of my posts lol but a while back i made a trapper/aviator hat in new born size and although i enjoyed the pattern i found this one on my journey of finding new patterns.

I kind of get¬† the idea with heads that when you make the crown you need to just adjust for size of the head and general sizes can be found on Google so i don’t always refer to a pattern with hats but this FREE pattern has upto an adult ūüôā which is helpful because you can just double check the stitch count and placement for the flaps.

I know lots of the blogs i follow are making winter/Christmas things and some of you have stores to control or mini stalls. These hats are really quick to make and i thought i would just forward you this link of the hat.

THIS IS NOT MY PATTERN, i am just sharing the link.

Hope you all enjoy!

V stitch crochet blanket & pattern kinda

Happy Saturday folks, whats this you say? ANOTHER crochet post. YUP I am in such a positive mood as well that. I won’t jinx is by saying anything mean to myself, i have all these awesome ideas and plans for the new year and i just feel good. Like NOW is officially that moment to put them into place – That also counts for my writing, now is the time it really really really…………………… REALLY IS.

So this is another order for a customer, and it was inspired by a blanket on my pin board. COLOURS not actual pattern, i went for the v stitch because its quick, pretty and easy. This person didn’t want the blankets too big and i think a v stitch is a great way to control size as you don’t need to think too much about how many times you need to chain multiples of such and such.

How did i do it?
Well i aren’t claiming the v¬† stitch as mine, but i will talk you through what i used and how i did it. I know many people use the V stitch differently and sometimes i do, you don’t even have to do trebles! (UK TERM for U.S DC)

So i doubled up and used two strands robin DK. So in total i used 800grams as each colour i used 200g as one ball is 100g. BUT due to the size of the blanket, i only actually fully used the navy. You don’t have to do this, use whatever colours weight etc as this will not effect the v stitch or how it looks.

Here are the colours i did use:
Silver (027)
White (040)
Navy (043)
IVE LOST the label for the green colour i THINK its Seagreen (071)

V stitch blanket how to – UK TERMS

1. So you want to chain in 2’s so as long as you end up on an even number, you will be fine ūüôā Don’t ask how many i chained LOL¬† – Then add two, so example 44 + 2

2.From the 4th chain from the hook, do two Trebles in that stitch – That is your v stitch.

*Treble: Yarn over hook, insert hook, YO pull through. You should have 4 stitches on your hook. YO, Pull through 2, YO pull through 2.

*V stitch is two TREBLES in the same stitch

3. Skip ONE stitch, then do two Trebles in that stitch – Repeat this until the last stitch and do ONE treble at the end.
Turn your work

4.** Ch2 – TWO trebles in between the previous V stitch created. Repeat til the end and do ONE treble in the top of the chain.

This is your v stitch \/¬† ¬†in between you do TR’s so it would be \TRTR/

**REPEAT steps 4, remember to do one TR at the end of the row in the top of the chain 2.

The reason for skipping 3 chains and going into the 4th at the beginning is because, two of those chains are your turning ch or one treble and that extra is your skipped stitch.
So don’t worry if you think it’s wrong.

This is a chainless v stitch – I am aware that most v stitches skip two stitches or you do TR chain 1 TR – Personally you can do that, its upto. I like this finish as it looks more close together and neater.

THIS IS NOT MY STITCH I NEVER CREATED THIS STITCH. This is just a made up way to make a blanket using that stitch.

And that is all my blanket orders finished, just a few things to make for people now and  i can relax and finally make things for my Christmas stall and play with my new yarn.

What’s everyone been whipping up recently? Have an awesome weekend!

Crochet bumpy baby blanket

Sup folks! I’m coming right back at ya with one of those treacherous blankets.
Honestly, i think the one thing i loath making for orders is blankets because i have to do them within a time frame – Meaning i have a blanket i started i think around Feb, i did blog about it, i haven’t finished it. Partly because i made it too big and it’s taking ages to decrease, secondly I CAN DO IT WHENEVER I WANT! If this takes me five years i don’t care, but no no no made to order blankets can’t take five years, the baby will basically graduating by then and it will be no use.

So, this order is 1 of 2 items. I have a second blanket to make for this customer and i have had to get my mum jump in and finish it as i had a really bad cold the other week and it’s taken me literally a week to get rid of it and then a few days to recover, i still aren’t 100% im so tired etc but i need to drink more water and get more fruit in me as i’ve been seriously slacking on the water in take. Cups of tea and Diet Coke doesn’t count.

Right back to it………………………. OH YES SO because i was poorly i fell behind and thank God my mum can crochet LOL! These needed to be finished by the end of this month or beginning of November so i really am thankful for the extra pair of hands. This weekend i should be able to get pictures of the other blanket and my mum has left weaving in the bloody ends to me GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. WEAVE AS YOU GO WOMAN WEAVE AS YOU GO!

The blanket pattern can be found here¬†– OKAY so, yup my blanket looks exact and the same colour. Not my choice, i always like to encourage my customers into different colours and styles which is why i set up a pin board on Pinterest with blanket ideas. It’s easy to talk about crocheting and what stuff means but if your a customer and has no clue it’s so much easier so simplify it and say ok, point and choose LOL

This customer wanted this exact pattern and exact colour, which was boring i hate HATE plain colours. But because of the pattern and it’s all bumpy i actually enjoyed this a lot more than i thought.

I used a 6.5MM crochet hook and 6 balls of Grey Robin Chunky, i don’t usually use this yarn and not quite sure why i chose it, ive worked with this brand briefly in the past and i don’t find it as soft as some Acrylic but once worked it does soften and i will be washing, blocking and throwing it in the dryer.
This is something i always do when making things for customers, but also it softens the fibers. If you have teddies or toys etc get some fabric conditioner add some to a spray bottle, i like to add water to make it go further and spray. This is great as sometimes when i make things, once washed i store them in plastic clear bags and then a box and if they are sitting around bored they will need some deodorant after a while

The pattern is strange isn’t is, it’s almost a puffy bobble stitch. It’s quite an effective and easier way to create that textured look and i think this looks just find in a plain colour. I think if variegated yarn was to be used it might take away the effect of this pattern but i might have a play in the near future.

To finish this off, as the pattern requested go round twice for the border doing SC oh that’s U.S for DC – I really should get used to working in UK terms but bleugh.

I haven’t shown the person yet as i want to show her with the second blanket, an then ill take some proper photos of this tomorrow for my Instagram¬†and FB portfolio so if you see this blanket it again, its just me being spammy with photos.

So that’s it for now, i can’t say i want to make anymore bloody blankets anytime soon but i have a few requests for after Christmas GRRRRRR (just kidding, kinda)

What else is on my hook? Ok so i have my scarf i started to make with this gorgeous yarn by Hayfield i did post a piccie on insta – I have a Custom doll for December, Mermaid tail (Which i need to double check with the customer) AND LOTS OF CHRISTMAS GOODIES!!!! YES you know it’s that time right to get cracking!!! I have a stall in December, and i want to make lots of cute things plus stuff in general BECAUSE as of next year, i will be focusing my business on pre-made items. More on this in the future, i will still be doing custom etc but anyways.

I think i can squeeze in a few order slots or am i over whelming myself lol!

Hope everyone is okay, whats everyone got going on? (P.S still catching up on blogs)

Crochet conker – RE-BLOG

I saw this post as i am trying to catch up with blogs, and this just filled me up with happy memories as a child.

My grandad would take me on a weekend, usually a Sunday and we would go and find conkers ūüôā I remember use wrapped up warm and rummaging the floor and through leaves for them.
It makes me laugh because i’d have lots and my mum would make comments about washing them because a dog might of peed on them.
Then i would get a hole put in and string attached and play the  conker game.

As i got a bit older, i remember with my street friends (childhood friends, usually my bestie) we would sneak in over the gates of our primary school and play on the playground and then head for the horse chestnut tree and fill our pockets of conkers. We would even find ones not open.

So i hereby declare that i will make it my mission this month, as well as taking my new camera on a journey to collect conkers. I might even make something and put it on my grandads grave in memory.

Happy saturday folks.

I do love Autumn… just when I think I’m going to dread the dark evenings and cold weather, nature gives its autumnal burst of gorgeous colours and each year I find myself falling in love with Autumn all over again! My creativity gets a boost from all that renewed inspiration too. From mushrooms which I […]

Crochet/Craft catch up & my first moon picture

Howdy people I’ve been reading some of your blogs and it’s nice to see everyone busy with projects. I’ve just finished my last teddy orders, now i am working on the two Blanket orders which need to be done by November BUT this person has also extended there order after seeing me make another mini unicorn and wants two of these as well LOL!
So, i’ve kept my order book closed until the 20th of October, which was something i was going to do so i can get some prep time in for Christmas, which is only fair right?

I also have another order which i have accepeted, but does ‘t need to be done until December but its the same as this mini unicorn but made bigger and personalised.

Horrible weekend.

So i was woken at 6:00AM Sunday by a lady with her two children outside our block screaming help help fire. Sadly, the three story block right next to mine was on fire. Her home set a light by the use of a storage heater, because she lived on the ground floor she managed to get out.
I saw the fire, and this horrible sight of seeing someone pulled out. A guy jumped out of his window and one had to be rescued from this ledge.
The family that i am guessing lived above the lady, has sadly passed away today and i feel completely helpless, her two children are still in hospital critical. I don’t believe in God but i do hope that the baby and kid survive.
I haven’t had much sleep, it’s been playing on my mind alot and i can’t get the images out of my head. I have to wake up and see it out of my window as it was in plain view. I wish i could of helped.

My heart also goes out to those all killed in Las Vegas, i have no words to as why someone would want to such a fucking thing.
This world is bloody horrible at the best of times with all sorts going on with Spain and these god damn storms just ruining peoples lives.

So lets just take a few moments to look at how lucky we were. We might not have much money, or not live in the best of homes. But we have a roof over our head, food to eat and fresh water to drink. And some of us are lucky to have friends and family around us as well.
We are privileged in so many ways, and yet we do take things for granted whether you want to admit that or not.

Back to it

So apart from that, an i aren’t saying sorry for that sad moment. I’ve been a bit grumpy lately. Like i’ve felt extra stressed and cant figure out why – I have even acted shitty with my mum and i shouldn’t because she’s not very well and everytime i am nasty i want to cry because i really don’t mean it. I think its a build up of something idk.

But i have my camera now, just waiting on my back drop stand cause it took me a while to pick one and some lighting so i can film when its darker.
Can’t wait to make videos, it’s easier to explain LOL – I’ve also made a massive list of things to make in the up an coming weeks and what i want to crochet.

Its long………………………………………….Also buying these crochet magazines, anyone else find some of them shit? It’s a hit and miss most months and i end up getting pissed off i just wasted 6.99 on a magazine that has average crap in it. IDK I hate they are in plastic so you can’t even sneaky peak in them.

OH so, this is the picture i took with my camera of the moon ūüôā I still need some practise with the tripod etc but i kind of wanted to hurry as i felt like people in surrounding flats would see this person with her window open and a camera and assume i was a peeping¬† tom. It’s not bad, i wanted to get closer but it was a cloudy night so i am hoping the weekend will be better as i want to get in on some of those stars!

Hannah @ quietwatercraft has been a doll and made me a custom birthday card for my mums birthday! I love it and she has such a cute eye for detail. We also noted that its such a small world, she used to live locally Рhow crazy is that?? So i check out her blog and her Etsy shop.

So that’s it i haven’t a lot to say as i am typing this, and scheduling it my hands are frozen as the window is open and i cba get up and close it.

I hope you are all well, and what have your crafty hands been upto????????????????????????

Here is a picture of my cat for comfort. I don’t know why hes cross eyed here???????????????

Crochet hook review – Sunday chit chat

I wanted to blog something crochet related as I haven’t really gone into much detail lately about my current projects, I currently have 6 projects that are all for customers and a few on the side for me plus one hundred for my stall – I am actually meeting up with my mum in the week to make a huge list of things I want to sell and she’s going to help me make some things to take the load off!

Anyways, so I think when it comes to our craft and hobbies its important to have good supplies, ones that work for us and really make our work not only enjoyable but smooth sailing. I think that’s really important with crochet and knitting, though I aren’t a pro in either I don’t know how to knit so I can’t really give much of an input on that part. I will say though I have had a few experiences with hooks and I found it really important once I got better at crocheting to be comfortable and happy whilst making things.
Also, I suffer bad with my wrists sometimes probably due to all the warehouse jobs I have worked in so my hands etc become tired easily and I feel the strain more – Which is why I wanted to go through my hooks and talk about what works for me and doesn’t and how I rate each one.

This is no way shape or form meant to force to buy the hooks I love, as everyone is different and has a preference when it comes to hooks and things but I have a speciality hook with I think will interest some folk. So shall we begin?

Aluminium hooks are probably the first set of hooks anyone will buy as a beginner. Why? Because they are cheap and a great way to learn how to crochet. I mean you must be crazy if you fork out lots of money when first learning something new!
These are a brand called Fusion, set of 12 and I paid £4.99 for them! I believe the name fusion is just private labelled as you can get these metal hooks from pretty much anywhere online for super cheap. Ebay have hundreds!
Okay, so whats good about these is that they are cheap, and they really do help with learning the basics of crocheting. It gives you great insight on how to get comfortable holding a hook, as we all have our own way. But for long term use, for me personally they don’t work. ESPECIALLY the smaller sizes, I mean my most used size hooks are 2, 2.5, 3.5, 4, 6 and when I am making toys I used 2, 2.5 a lot. These were so not comfortable to use but when I started out I really didn’t get that? I just assumed it comes with the craft, especially when it comes to delicate yarns and cottons these things would snag and make all sorts of mess to my fibers.
However I wont throw them away because the larger hooks are ‘okay’ to work with. I just can’t crochet with them for long, especially since a year has passed and the skill has improved massively. Great for beginners, not so much good if you do suffer with joint inssues in the wrists, or¬†arthritis because they are slippy and uncomfortable to hold, especially after a long period of time.

When I started to get better a crocheting and also began to experience pain in my wrists, people would tell me about hooks with rubber handles or the more elite and expensive ones, Clover etc. Because my budget wasn’t quite there I noticed that the brand Fusion who made those really uncomfortable metal hooks also did some rubber handle style ones. They didn’t even break the bank, seriously! I got a set of 9 for ¬£7.99 WOW right!?
To this day, they are the best books I have ever used and of course a little stronger. I mean my 2mm hook on the old set fucking bent when I used it! These were amazing and I noticed straight away an improvement in my crocheting, my hand pain was less and less and I was able to crochet faster, neater and for longer periods of time. I was super happy!
These again are perfect for those that are starting out and don’t want to break the bank AND PRO’S – Honestly, I will say recently I got a clover hook and sometimes I still switch back to this because of how comfortable I am when I crochet. Basically, in my pot of hooks if I need a hook this is the one I reach for without thinking! I will never stop using these hooks and I will never forget them because they helped my improve so much.
So if you are looking for hooks that save you money and  have an ergonomic handle this will be your life saver!

This is just a quick tough on bigger crochet hooks and the one small one I have.¬† I mean its an absolute rare occasion that I use such big hooks! I don’t think I’ve ever made anything chunky or bleugh because when I have, regardless like aka t shirt yarn my wrist hurts and I find it so hard to work with hugely bulky yarn. May because I aren’t used to it like some crocheter and knitters so I probably need to spend more time with fat yarn. So I got some hooks, these are not a set and got each one alone. I was using these plastic shitty pony ones that I did not like and I will touch on them at some point in this post.
These Knit pro hooks cost around ¬£2.90 each, that’s just an estimate. I actually got them from Ebay, and if your precise and don’t rush a buying on Ebay you will find legitimate sellers as I know a lot of fake hooks/brands get sold but I do have a few sellers I buy from and they are really good. Especially for price. As I don’t use these hooks that often, I just wanted to say findind a hook with a rubber hand and metal head will probably work better for anyone like me who finds it difficult or has wrist pain. Its a lot more comfortable to hold and the yarn will just slide easily on these hooks. AVOID the shitty ass cheap pony ones, they are vile…DSC_0047

Oh look shitty ass plastic ones. Okay, they don’t function well with yarn and I can’t seem to get a good grip on these at all. They hurt my hand it in all kinds of ways from wrist pain, to friction on my palm because I have to hold them in a weird way to feel comfortable. They make me feel like I have to work ten times harder when crocheting rather than just effortlessly moving that hook, I mean you guys might have good experiences with these but I don’t. The only good thing about them is they are cheap, so yeah.

My babies! Clover hooks! YUP – Expensive. But I only bought the sizes I truly use the most because I want to feel comfortable as I am a lot better at crocheting. This past year my bones and joints just aren’t the same and I even had to wear a bandage for a week because my wrist was fucked up. I still have to wear it when I feel like I need support whilst crocheting.
So the top image is Clover soft touch, and these are a God send. I didn’t know what to expect when I had these, as I know everyone goes on about these and I’ve been wanting them for such a long time and the past few months I’ve been lucky to upgrade a little on my hooks. The first one I bought was a 4mm I have two of those because I thought id lost the other LOL – I got it and fuck, it was the lightest thing I’ve ever held. Which what makes the hooks so great. They are so light in your hands that you don’t even realise you are crocheting, so I could crochet even faster and longer without hurting or straining. I wasn’t sure if was going to like them because of the handle its flat and not bulky and round like some other hooks, so I had to adjust the way I held my hook and it took me a day to get used to it. But now I love them, the hook itself is so well made you can tell by the shape and I have not experiences any yarn catching or snagging especially the smaller hook when I used cotton for toys. It’s so smooth I can’t explain it. If you want to not ache as much with crocheting then these are the next upgrade, they are pricey over all. I mean ¬£3.69 approx¬† for one hook hence why I got them over time, and I aren’t too bothered about getting every single size as I have other hooks etc I am ok working with.
Then the go onto the picture below – These are Clover Amour and work out around ¬£5.99 for one hook, so even more pricier. I have a 6.5mm in this as I started a blanket with chunky yarn and I didn’t really have a great hook other than my fusion rubber handles and I was experiencing snagging and just bleugh. FUCK ¬£5.99 is worth every penny. The handle looks the same doesn’t it as some others? But its not, the rubber is softer than talc on my ass. The hook itself is plastic but I know they have Amour ones made from¬†Aluminum – For plastic it doesn’t look like it, so it must be special because the hook is so smooth and well crafted. The handle and everything I could just tell the difference as I worked with my chunky yarn. I enjoyed crocheting with it, I just kept going and going because I had no issue.
These hooks are worth the buck in my opinion, you guys might not like them but that’s okay. I aren’t saying buy buy buy – Add them to a wish list for your birthday or Christmas, and if you get the chance to treat yourself once in while invest in one at a time. Don’t get a whole set because you need to see if these hooks will work for you!
Now I am saving the best til last ūüôā

OKAY! This is a 6mm Prym ERGONOMIC crochet hook. I paid £4.29 so yes again price!
If you want to invest when your ready and want a really decent ergonomic hook then this is it. BUT I want to give you the bad news – These start from 6mm to 15mm, which pissed me off though I totally get why. The bigger the yarn the bigger the hook, and it can become quite tiresome and hardwork as I mentioned with another hook, so you have more strain on your wrists and this isn’t always a nice thing if you have arthritis.
We want to craft and be comfortable, not do it for half an hour and be like damn I need a cocktail to forget the pain.
I am not lying when I say DO Get these hooks, DO try them. If they made these hooks in smaller sizes, I would switch out my whole collection for these. SERIOUSLY, that’s how good they are.
I mean, Prym hook me up if you do smaller sizes!
The only thing I had to get used to is the handle is longer, which is actually a good thing this makes it nice and easy for you to hold the hook nice and light without gripping it for your life. Which means it’s comfortable.
The metal hooks, and the nasty ass plastic things I had to hold really tight because I could not get a good trip or feel comfortable.
These glide and your wrist moves smoothly when your tackling those stitches! Add this to your wishlist.

Hooks I aren’t fond of.

So I won’t fully say piss off to crochet hooks with fancy handles, or bamboo hooks as well the polymer clay hook was free with a magazine. It snagged my yarn, it wasn’t made very well on the hook you can feel something rough and the handle is hard and uncomfortable. I do however like the roundness of the handle, it made it easy to manoeuvre in my fingers.
As for the bamboo hooks, they cost like ¬£1.99 and I think the one with the interchangeable end cost around ¬£2.99 or ¬£3.99 – They suck! They feel so light and I was so scared of snapping them, not only that the hook itself didn’t seem like the size it said. I compared them to another hook size, and it just seemed really small!
Not only that they caught onto my yarn and snagged, I struggled to finish a stich and couldn’t really get a good rhythm or flow with my crocheting. I got pissed off and threw them to one side.
HOWEVER – I am very open to trying more bamboo hooks, and more fancy hooks with cute polymer clay handles. These ones that I have are just an actually no go!

Thanks for reading!

So yeah! That’s my thoughts on my hooks, again these views are my own and I am in no way shape for form encouraging this to be your opinion. I think it’s important in crocheting and in any craft that you find the tools your most happy working with. It’s about experimenting and testing out, which is why I don’t and wont ever buy full sets of the expensive ones so that’s also important for you to remember! No pressure in upgrading, it took me a year to do so and if it wasn’t for my mum who has been helping me recently by treating me every now and again I probably will be still using those fucking metal things. They are really sharp at the bottom, so I need to add that if you have kids just watch them with those, they would make a good weapon.

I hope you are all having a good weekend!

WIP Wednesday – Catching waves, neat ripple crochet blanket.

Ner ner ner, i accomplished one of my goals!!! I finished my sea wave ripple blanket.
YES! So proud right now but i aren’t proud that since the start of this month ive done nothing but eat shit, drink diet pepsi and just meh whatever though.

So happy 4th of July for yesterday LOL! – I spent ALL day on this thing and I started one of my other goals which was to watch Pretty Little Liars as i had never seen it before, i actually think i started it on Sunday? Whatever. It hit midnight i had like 6 rows to go and i was so drained from working it all day that i left it til today.

Why is it when your so close to the end of something it literally takes forever? Please explain that to me, my wrists were tingly i had crocheted that much. I took toilet breaks quick email check etc but honestly i just busted ass.

I followed the Attic 24 neat ripple pattern for this blanket and it turned out pretty well.
I think during the process i had to frog a few rows as my count was off at the end of the row and i usually found that i would fucked up around about the start of a new row so it was such a pain to frog back all that way. FML – I will say that this blanket wouldn’t be done if it was adult size, this is a baby blanket and measures at 31×35 inches so its a nice size for a baby. I kind of hate thinking of blanket sizes because i don’t come across babies that often LOL so when i first ever met my friends baby, i was like shit they really are SMALL. I don’t know why i thought they were as big as a blanket. Honestly – I think that’s a good reason why i will never be ready for a child hahaha Ill be buying my kid cars before they even know how to tie laces.

I actually really enjoyed doing this blanket. Anything blue i love, because it’s my favourite colour. It relaxes me, i mean just look at those shades i feel so close to the sea which is always such a memorable and relaxing place right?
It makes me want to pack up and live in a little wooden house right on the sand ūüė¶

I usually get really bored of blankets even when it’s a request and i tried to do the ripple way back when i started my blog and i never finished it. In fact whatever i did do got thrown out months ago a long with the colours.

The yarn is used is…… Obviously stylecraft. I always go back to this brand and i think they are spot on with the shades that they have especially the blues. I have a few more colours that i wanted to use as it reminds me of being under water and searching for Atlantis. But i don’t know what ill do yet as i just seem to have yarn just for ‘just incase’ type of moments.

Starting from the white and going to the darkest shade here are the colours i used in stylecraft special DK :
White (1001)
Duck egg (1820)
Storm blue (1722)
Petrol (1708)

I used a 4mm crochet hook and for the border i jut went down the sides of where i started and end rounds and did two TR/DC in each space of where i have row of colours. Meaning i did 6 TR/DC for each set of colour.
I tried to follow the Attic 24 edge pattern i think that’s kind of the start of it but I just did my own thing. I didn’t want anything over the top for a border and i didn’t even do a border on the sides that were wavy.

I can’t say i ever use crazy borders on my projects because i like to keep that aspect of it simple, i see it more of a frame and the blanket is it’s own portrait.

And here is the final picture IMG_20170705_170157_831

So for the rest of today/evening and tomorrow well some of tomorrow i am going to relax, check my bullet journal and it’s to do lists then move on to the next.

Monday mayhem

So I’ve been way off with my blogging and everything else. I guess I’ve been busy but at the same time I started to feel a little low again and I needed to try and just snap out of it.

I’m feeling okay today, i finished my unicorn order and have a small order to finish and post it by Thursday. I am however trying to tackle my “I don’t want to leave the house” attitude and I need to get functional.

I joined a chat room for people with depression but I got banned because the owner is Christian and a hugely against the LGBT community. Anyways, I have decided to start bullet journaling. What is is this madness you say?

Okay well I am going to do a whole post on this probably next week but this is for sure something to get you more organised and more productive. Check out YouTube and type in bullet journal for videos but I actually recommend Amanda as she is so cool and I love her style. I will give you guys some beginner shit when I’m all set up as I think because I’m a beginner it would be cool to do with this with newbies as well. Also next week I’ll link all my items I got and where I purchased etc as today I’m off to get more stationary.

I also had to take my cat for his jabs last week and I bought him a water fountain as the heat here has been vile. It’s cooler today but I keep getting bursts of being warm!

I also have to try and fit in the doctors as I have this weird rash on my legs OK so it sounds gross but I think it’s dry skin idk. I also am still planning my store content and I guess my mood has slowed me down BUT I have an interview this week for a part time job at TGIF in the kitchen. I want it so I can not only get some extra bucks for my crocheting and store up Keep but it gets me out of the house.

Day 1 of serious dieting, I had two boiled eggs for breakfast (brunch!) I will probably eat a sandwich whilst I’m out so I will have some fruit and green tea when I get home.

I am also interested in calligraphy, so I am going to get some cheap pens and sketch pad and practise. I also want to learn how to doodle haha. I want to do things that relax me I know crocheting does but lately it’s all been for the sake of the store.

I had the best weekend not doing anything. Saturday I played ps4 all afternoon until midnight and Sunday I relaxed and watched youtube videos all day and just switched off from everything.

So I’ll be blogging again in the week I just have so much to do I can’t keep up and I never really saw blogging as priority when it comes to actual life.

I hope you are all well and I will sit down at some point tomorrow and catch up with your blogs.

Wednesday WIP& stuff

Bonjour crafters! It’s Wednesday once again and this week is flying damn.. I got so much to do as well it makes me feel sick and want take a million naps.

So i started a ripple blanket last night using stylecraft yarn. I got these colours a few weeks back when i just wanted to shop for yarn and add some different shades to my busting stash.
Incase you missed it on insta, the shades are (from left to right) White, duck egg, storm blue, petrol – I think i got that right.
I have this love hate relationship with a ripple as i started once waaaaaaaaay back and never finished it. I love LOVE LOVE how they look when done and i really like starting them but it’s something about them i don’t like when it comes to finishing the damn thing but this one needs to be finished.
I am so tired lately and so i put the hook down today and decided that i would just kind of chill & catch up on some gaining as I haven’t been able to log into my PS4 for ages.

I also made a few private pin boards on my pinterest for some more store ideas, i am still toying with the keychains and mini makes but struggling to find inspiration. – I’ve actually lost my inspa, i had it all planned out and I am feeling pretty meh this week. I think i just do need a rest, me time no crocheting (Even though my hands are itching) i am even going to catch up on my reading!
A delivery came today for my bookcase and a few other things like a new ironing board and iron plus a new laundry basket. So tomorrow i am going to be busy sorting the living room out and playing catch up with ironing but i might just do that at the weekend.

So this week i have been following Mrs Craft’s free pattern for baskets (Check out that link for the pattern) & I decided to use this bright ass t shirt yarn i got a while back! I bloody hate it, the ¬†hook everything. So i have ordered a better hook (12mm) and it didn’t come today which was annoying as i wanted to finish it so, hopefully by Friday my stuff will arrive and i can finish it over the weekend BECAUSE – I am going to make more.
You see all that fabric in the picture? Yup, totally bought that. I lay it on the airer just to show you guys how much of it i have. I mean i have a lot of it, at least 5 meters.
Funny because when i went to my fabric shop i saw it and i was like hmmm i don’t know how much i need so the lady literally just weighed the lot to see what the total was and go from there. Well it was only ¬£9.66 for the whole – I mean f*** sake how amazing is that?! One ball of t shirt yarn costs like ¬£8.99 – I can make a million uses out of all of that fabric, not just baskets but i could even make a t shirt and add some crochet on the edges etc.
SO yes i am making my own t shirt yarn ¬†– I picked well t shirt fabric for this and i do have a tutorial saved somewhere on how to cut it continuously rather than strips and then have to join. Isn’t it quite surprising how much money you can save? You don’t have to go out and buy fabric you can easily go to some charity/thrift shops and buy old t shirts or fabric, maybe you have some lying around at home? I wanted a specific look and pattern hence why buying the fabric but it honestly hasn’t cost much. So what i think i shall do is, measure how much of it i use for the yarn make note and then in the future i can go back and get the specific ammount.

I am going to do a full post on this at some point on how to make t shirt yarn and i will do a video to show you how to cut, so i think i will do all that this weekend and then post next week.

CAN’T WAIT TO TRY THAT PATTERN OUT WITH MY FABRIC. I want to do all of them and the ribbed one aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Righteo, I’ve done babbling on i don’t think i have anything else to say, so hope you have a good week if i don’t post til weekend & happy WIP Wednesday, drop a comment with y your current projects.

Peace out xox
